When you do theoretical mathematical demography it's good to have a Plan B so I ride a bike.
Not a holiday but when I was in grad school I shared a house with a guy who was a little OCD and another of our housemates would purposefully cut pies and pizzas off-center.

Yes, we are trying to finish up a paper doing exactly that…(what we find is consistent with what Amanda describes; tracking a synthetic cohort over time we see impossible changes in the newest wave)

By the way have you seen now bananas the newest NSFG data are? Impossible changes within cohorts from the last wave (way more than between waves before) - doubling rates of rareish time-invariant traits, reversals of monotonic increasing experiences, etc.

I've been on both the patient privacy and patient safety side of the debate. HIPAA allows for "legitimate" research, and we can require info be collected (safety) while restricting its access (privacy)--except, evidently, under this administration. So I've been wrong a lot too.
