It's the seriousness of the issue, paired with the juvenile nature of the insult. I think it's also that nobody defended her or picked up her questioning. It's a distillation of the failure of our institutions to hold this guy accountable, when he is, at his core, a blowhard and a bully.

Agreed. One name (of many) I dont want forgotten in the conversation is her first congressional opponent, Kevin van Ausdal. He was an everyman who thought he could make a difference, but instead was left broken by her and her followers.

I feel bad she's being threatened and support her sticking to her guns on Epstein. But, I want to see some accountability by apologizing to her first opponent, kevin van ausdal who was forced to drop out d/t death threats, along with acknowledging J6 was wrong.

I guess that's what they meant by "drain the swamp."

I hate that they capitulated, but we cannot get stuck here. Take a day to be angry at these (at best) incompetents, but know that words do nothing. How do we sideline the cavers and where do we go from here to continue fighting? I don't know, but our job is to figure it out.

My dad taught/trained him at Penn in the 80s. Around 2006, before his grift was open, after finding out that he was on Oprah, he told me "Mehmet was one of the smartest kids I ever met, and he's a very skilled doctor. But, i thought he mostly cared about fame and money."

I forget who said it, but someone once commented that part of the difficulty of dealing with him is that he is beyond satire. As others have said, it's like living in an onion article.

I'm sorry. Hopefully it doesn't get to you or your family. I know I would have a tough time handling it, at least at first. Thanks for putting yourself out there and giving us fun/quirky history lessons, and speaking up about the current moment.

I wish this surprised me.

Drove through and it was bigger than the summer htown rally. No Ardmore rally this time, so combined size size is what we're seeing. A great turnout regardless.
Fewer trump folks in htown this time. There was a corral of approx. 20 in June. I only saw 1 family yesterday. Similar in Springfield.

Size of government always seemed arbitrary to me. A national health system? That requires enormous resources. Roving death squads? Significantly less. Call me crazy, but I think one is a far greater infringement on personal liberty than the other.

Accountability, action, and awareness are what matter now. They admit being wrong. They are worried about others, not just themselves. And, they are taking action when it would be easy to stay quiet.

Never played monopoly until I was in college. I've never watched any of the popular reality shows from early to mid 2000s (Survivor, Apprentice, Greatest Race...)

I was a competitive rower. Trained near a section that was frequented by motor boats. Most made an effort to share the river. There was one who could not GAF, though. Was a big Tea Party guy based on the stickers on the back rack on his (boosted) new F150...this was suburban philadelphia.

Another thing to add to the pile of supreme court decisions from the last couple decades that need to be fixed. Deshaney and Castle Rock are both due for some updating.

Thank you! The worst you can say is that he stated it badly, but I think his point was clear. It would be a lot easier if we could blame Islamic terrorism or some "other," but this is a product of our own culture. Daily, we feed a monster of algorithms and rage bait and it's killing us.

I would love that. My daughter...definitely maybe.

@radleybalko.bsky.social I'm curious if you have any notions why the GSP was involved? The head of the state patrol is the son of the state rep for the district where the factory is being built. Seems odd they'd be supporting this, but maybe (probably) I'm overthinking...

Or, it could be just as simple as the state/local guys wanting to play, too. I dunno.
September 6, 2025 at 5:34 PM
Interesting. I know the head of the GSP is the son of a long serving state rep. for the area. So, besides whatever independence the GSP has from the governor, it seems like it's also a "family business," so to speak. Weird that the rep. would endanger such a project, thpugh...

State troopers were involved in the raid, so it had to have his endorsement at some level.

Thanks for posting this...I thought I understood how difficult life was on pre-electric farms. Reading about the lives of farm wives in Robert Caro's bio of LBJ in a chapter titled "Sad Irons" blew me away and gave me a whole different perspective on the past.

There was a bright side to Lyndon Johnson's race to power, and a dark side. Let me talk about the bright side first. The bright side is very bright. For Lyndon Johnson was a genius at what his Hill C...

Putting aside questions of what they can legally do to feds, the philly PD has a big MAGA contingent, and many of them hate Krasner. So, I wouldn't be surprised if they just stand aside when other armed (supposedly LE) start snatching people. That's if they don't join in.

TBF that's probably something they do all the time. The stereotype of mil. life is that you have to do a lot of BS like this. Still, it must be infuriating...it's my hope that there will be some resentment, especially towards the ICE guys getting huge bonuses, hotels, and acting like dicks.
