Thank you!! Yes, it is wonderful that thyroid cancer has such a targeted treatment option. It may not work for his specific type of thyroid cancer unfortunately, but here's hoping!

I planted a red chokeberry this year that I would currently characterize as "a few twigs" so it is exciting to see what I have to look forward to as it grows. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, friend 🤍

So, mixed bag, but his prognosis is still good. Nonetheless, very shocking to get any kind of cancer diagnosis in your early thirties. It's been a weird year.

It's not you! We haven't been very public about it. I treat bluesky as my "scream into the void" social media so this is really the only place I've talked about it.

Thyroid cancer is one of the least bad types of cancer to have! But his specific type of thyroid cancer is more bad than average.

LOL good one 😂

This is not work related! He just took a radioactive iodine pill as a treatment for thyroid cancer.
December 10, 2025 at 4:39 PM
He has a type of thyroid cancer that is somewhat unlikely to actually respond to radioactive iodine, so this may all be for naught! But his doctors still think it's worth trying. If you wanna think some good thoughts for us, I would appreciate it. We really want this to work.

Then following the actual treatment, he will be radioactive for a few days! So Pepper and I need to stay away from him. I bought a geiger counter?? Life is just weird right now.

I'm no audiophile either but I pegged it immediately. It just didn't sound right, and I cannot verbalize what about it was wrong, but I'm 100% sure it was AI.

My friend later identified the fish as a northern pike and I found this very relevant article

We learn something new every day don't we
Amazing fish tale: Northern pike dies after biting off more than it can chew
The pike and a largemouth bass were both found floating in the water by a kayaker.

I am often in meetings at 3:30 so my coworkers are getting to see a lot of my cat as he walks back and forth over my keyboard.
