The air filled with the sound of singing. The woman stopped screaming, apologized, picked up her dismembered hand and walked into the back of the store. After she was out of sight, the singing began again, and the Durangos forgot everything they had witnessed.

They all left town in the morning, were accompanied by the most annoying knight in the world, and had a totally normal one at a tailor's shop!

The next morning, the siblings prepared to leave for Carthage to help the noble house, Lomassal, with a demon attack. (Dorian had to sneak out of Ruven’s house to join them before breakfast.) Lord Godfrey, in an act of solidarity with House Durango, offered the service of one of his knights to the Durangos–Sir Ponli Hercule. Before leaving Elesgiah, Stavros stopped by a local Goldsmith to pick up a commissioned order he had placed the day before. He paid for a pair of gold adornments for his (and Markos’s) fangs, but did not have the money for a second larger order. He lied that he simply needed to retrieve the additional funds from the family coffers and would return with payment (he’s hoping the mission in Carthage pays well). The Durangos are poor now… Once they were on the road, Sir Ponli IMMEDIATELY got on the siblings' nerves. He didn’t seem to be malicious, but foolish and full of himself and ANNOYINGGG. Markos constantly had to remind the siblings that they needed to be diplomatic, as Sir Ponli’s service was part of their alliance with Lord Godfrey, but even he was close to snapping. After two days of traveling, they camped near a small town by the name of Rookhallow. Dottie needed to do a bit of shopping for dinner, and so when Sir Ponli volunteered to walk into town for her, the siblings were more than happy to let him go. They sent Roks along to accompany him as well. Several hours passed, but the pair did not return. The siblings begrudgingly headed into town to search for their lost knight and sorcerer supreme, believing them to be kidnapped. They entered the local tailor shop and found a woman that appeared like she had recently been crying. As they inquired about Sir Ponli, the woman began to scratch on the wood of the counter, slowly craving out letters. She appeared to be oblivious to her own actions, carrying on a normal conversation while her nails cracked and bled. Eventually she carved the words IT ATE HIM. Before any of the siblings could react, she reached over the counter, grabbed Stavros’s dagger, and cut her own hand off. She then began to scream.

That evening, the Durangos arrived at the largest tavern in town in the nicest finery available to them. Stavros bought a round of mead for everyone and introduced Liesl to his siblings. Claudia was completely overwhelmed by the party atmosphere of the tavern, but Stavros hauled her out onto the dancefloor to try to get her to have fun. Claudia, drunk, cried on Stavros’s shoulder about a failed relationship from her days at the convent and Stavros consoled her (and offered to beat up this unnamed ex). Markos prodded Liesl for stories about Stavros while they were training together with the Vigilant Eyes and she divulged the most embarrassing ones she could think of. Dorian persuaded his way into the VIP section by charming a minor noble, Ruven Godrick, and went home with him. Stavros in his clubbing fit Markos in his clubbing fit Dorian in his clubbing fit

I didn't have time to draw as much art for this session but A LOT happened so, enjoy some chunks of text (written by @cautiousamber.bsky.social thank u 🙏)

The siblings reconvened to write their Proclamation. Well… Markos wrote it, everyone else "advised."
It was agreed that they would deliver a copy to Lord Godfrey, confirm their selection of the King’s missives, and inform him of the black dragon that Dorian spotted in the city. Dorian tried to get additional information about how he was found as a baby in an egg from Dottie, but she had little more knowledge to offer. Lord Godfrey was deeply troubled by the news of the dragon sighting, worried that the fall of Wintertop had already spurred the dragons to begin encroaching on Elesgiah. The siblings also learned that Lord Godfrey had trained as a Paladin before he had to abandon his training to take over ruling the city. He noted that his status as a noble was the only reason he was not considered an Oathbreaker. Lord Godfrey and Stavros concluded the meeting with a Paladin salute. Learning this solidified Stavros's respect for Lord Godfrey. Stavros was eager to have his siblings meet Liesl and invited them all out to the tavern later that night, after they had completed their errands for the day. Markos and Claudia stopped by the nearest library to attempt a bit of research. Markos was seeking more information on local legends about the Black Knight they saw before Ingelokastamazilion destroyed Wintertop, while Claudia wanted to research demons to better prepare for their mission in Carthage, but both of them just ended up becoming absorbed in reading salacious fiction instead.

Then, it was time for them to say goodbye to their sister, Diva. It was decided that her skills were best used in the courts of Jericho, to be their eyes and ears amongst the other councilors, & fill the role their mother had before her. They had their tearful goodbyes, but knew she'd do them proud.

While out, Dorian caught notice of a black dragon hiding in the shadows. The dragon stared at him for a moment before disappearing. The truth of his draconic heritage was still fresh on his mind, and this sighting was far from comforting. #HouseDurango #art

Over dinner with Lord Godfrey, they discussed their plan of action to write a proclamation to the nation addressing the attack on Wintertop.
