To add. We wouldn't be able to boot with the SR slots on the primary channels. We've had to mix match the way it would be done in servers. Otherwise 3400mhz would be the top speed unfortunately. Not the most optimal yet it has worked fine.

Silicon lottery.. counting the amount of pcie devices in use that could be a reason.

I do not think the board has degraded as it is barely three or four years old.

I wouldn't be wrong to say that it may be another two years of these platform then we will pass down the hardware to another build.

Ryzen 9 5900x. Strix x570-E bios 5031. These same setup before two of our 4 dimms died worked on our 3700x with these same board just as fine.

Hynix C die sticks tend to be easier on the infinity fabric if I'm understanding these correctly compared to samsung's b-die.. let alone having both single and dual rank. Single rank tends to be easier. I personally do not care loosing such a small bit of frequency.
