No. 1 fan of Stuart Hardy(aka Stubagful)’s very very good and very underrated anthology podcast series “Abnormal Stories”

(aka the second account of @grahamchapmanspipe69.bsky.social)
Again its just my lil theory ofc lol.

All the episode was pretty damn good and imo has so much potential as a visualised analog horror film and stuff!!

(Also regarding the abortion scene in the episode, I thought it was handled pretty well and sensitively ❤️)

Also, regarding the hospital scene, I like to think that Janey was put there by the rest of the supporting characters because they think she‘s “crazy“ and “mad“ and not giving her the right proper support and stuff, mostly cuz mental health services back then were…..iffy to say the least.

-Johnny grew up learning that sorts of behaviours were “normal” and so repeated that same toxic and unhealthy behaviour towards Janey.
November 25, 2025 at 6:20 PM
-sugarcoated through the cozy and warm 70s sitcom lens.

Tho it’s also implied that, if Johnny’s mum didn’t have the abortion and Johnny grew up in that toxic and abusive environment that his parents were in-

Idk how to explain it, but i think it reflects an unfortunate reality of some people leaving toxic relationships and feeling that them leaving was a regretful decision and stuff. It’s just that the toxic-ness and abusive side of Johnny & Janey’s relationship was (in a way)-

I like to think, in this “lost episode“, Janey somewhat “escaped“ her (let‘s face it) toxic and abusive relationship with Johnny, but she doesn’t realise it and wants to “get her Johnny back” (because she’s still stuck in that mindset of “oh he’s not that bad, he’s just Johnny!”, ifit makes sense?)
November 25, 2025 at 6:12 PM
In terms of the events in the episode itself, admittedly my own theory is a tad boring lol.

It’s the “it was all a dream” kinda theory ordeal, but done in a more realistic and horrifyingly existential way, if that makes sense?
November 25, 2025 at 6:09 PM
Mhmm honestly I think that theory’s pretty cool too! I think the “Richard Patch coming back from the grave to manifest a “lost” 6th episode of the show” holds some water lowkey (considering the spooky end of the lost episode before its cut off)

As always, brilliant episode as always and imo a really great finale to end off AS Series 3!!

Btw Stuart, I know the episode itself is largely and intentionally left up to interpretation and stuff, but I was curious to know on what *your* personal interpretation of the episode is, if that’s ok?

Yay <33 Cheers Stuart!!

Had a lot of fun making the fanart frfr!! This episode was an absolute spooky joy from start to finish lowkey and as a finale it was quite perfect imo <33

For my photo references, aside from the 70s vintage look and stuff, I also took inspo from the classic 70s Britcom “Terry & June” (which also served as inspiration for the fictional sitcom “Johnny & Janey“ in the episode!)
November 22, 2025 at 8:32 PM
I designed the characters themselves a bit after their voice actors (Paul M. Bradley and Kate Morgan Jones respectively, both of whom did an absolutely brilliant job as always!!) as that’s what imagined the characters looking like in the episode (imo ofc).
November 22, 2025 at 8:31 PM
The characters (Johnny & Janey) are from the episode “The Lost Finale of Johnny & Janey” from the anthology podcast “Abnormal Stories” by @stubagful.bsky.social . Give it a listen, it’s a real spooky blast!!

Yeah I think “The Abandoned Factory“ counts as a rare-ish happy ending lol.

That and “Sunbather” I think too.

-because such things as that are also not seen as “natural“ in the district’s rigid view of “Perfect Love” and by extension “Perfect Families”.
November 14, 2025 at 8:01 PM
(🧵)
This could also explain why things like adoption or surrogacy (for the couples who can’t conceive children due to many reasons) probably also doesn’t exist in the district-
November 14, 2025 at 8:01 PM

-because the district‘s rigid and strict view of “Perfect Love” deliberately excludes queer people purely on the basis of queerness “not being natural or ““real”“ love“.

My theory is that either queer people legit don’t exist in this AU, or that queer people *do* exist, but they’re literally sent to the sidelines of society along with the rest of the singletons-
November 14, 2025 at 7:56 PM

There’s never mentions of queer couples (man love man, woman love woman, etc etc) who are also (by the logic of the very strict hierarchical district) “perfect” for each other.
