I won't lie, I unfairly judged it by it's cover. Held onto it but one day, took it to the throne and read the entire thing and went, "Gotta solo one-shot this just to get the feel of it." Did, had fun, Did it again, took a couple sessions that time but after that I was like "Awriiiiiight!"

Honestly, no board games that I'm currently playing. Got lots of 'em. Risk, HeroQuest, Magic The Gathering: Arena of The Planeswalkers (MINIS!!!) and stuff like that but the last time I played something resembling a board game, I played Four Against Darkness and used minis and the battle mat.

the bomb on them that they don't ever have to learn another rule set if they don't feel like it but they CAN play that same rule set in different settings. I got a standout in the group, she's gonna be my breakout GM, like, I've seen her notes, the way she engages and sometimes takes lead, yeah

Now that's pretty fuckin' badass if you ask me. It puts you right into the game with what you absolutely need to play the game and have a great time.

I love that rule set. Plain and simple, it got some people who otherwise wouldn't play these games into these games. They love it, I'm about to lay

do some minor retools of their characters to fit them if they wanted to carry them over and we can still do a ton of cool shit and create a campaign set in the world of Vald. The rule set itself is so simple that complete newbies had characters up, cocked, locked and ready to rock in 15 minutes.

I think the additional stuff in second edition enhances the rule set which is nearly identical save for some slight changes in verbiage that are negligible to barely noticeable. I only noticed because I was digging for them, specifically and doing a comparison on my own. My table can switch to 2E,

Now, here's the coolest part. All the stuff in the Warden's Guide can easily be applied to any other game using Cairn's rule set. There were some minor fixes we made but most of the table are brand-spankin' new to this and the flexibility was just easy to rule but we're still close as hell on rules

Well yeah! Dude, I got Runecairn Wardensaga, We Deal In Lead and Cairn 2E Player's Guide & Warden's Guide which, I'm gonna say, out of all-time great GM books, this Warden's Guide was an absolute joy to read.
