I’M BACK BITCHES!

Made it to Merced NWR with my new mirrorless camera on a grim, dim, rainy day and did my best. This is one of my favorites, because you can see both snow and Ross’ geese, and because of that one bird (you’ll know it when you see it).

Been awhile since I’ve posted bird pictures. Fact is my birding camera was stolen because I am an idiot.

But I now have a nifty new camera! Mirrorless! I’ve managed one trip to my favorite birding spot, but it was rainy and dim. I will post my best later. (Camera details in alt text)

So, I have to renew my driver’s license, and this time, because I am 70 years old, I have to go in and get my picture taken and pass the eye test. So I figured, I should try and get a Real ID. (thread)

I *knew* it was him!

Cheetohead strong-
armed the Army Corp of Engineers into dumping water from 2 San Joaquin Valley reservoirs, even though there was no chance in hell that it actually reach Los Angeles. He just wasted water needed for summer agriculture.

Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.
Army Corps knew Trump's water release order in California's San Joaquin Valley was a waste
The Army Corps responsible for releasing reservoir water at President Trump’s order knew it wouldn’t reach Southern California as promised.

An excellent deep dive intp the dats behind FIRE's "campus free speech" rankings. You won't be surprised to learn they are bullshit, riddled with errors and willful misrepresentions. This is not a serious organization and we would stop treating it as such. www.chronicle.com/article/the-...

Gotta admit, I do NOT like caves. But today was the day I learned about Stephen Bishop, self taught geologist who explored Mammoth Cave. Many of the features of the cave were named by him. I would gladly tour Mammoth with this man.

Seems appropriate to bring up the importance of black trans people in the Stonewall riots, since the fuckers have removed any reference to transgendered people on the US Park Service Stonewall Inn Website.

Living just an hours drive from the entrance to Sequoia National Park, the story of Charles Young has a special significance. The third Black graduate of West Point, Young was Captain of a company of Buffalo Soldiers when he was appointed acting superintendent of Sequoia NP.

I stumbled upon a documentary narrated by Morgan Freeman on the 761 Tank Battalion, a segregated independent (less politely, bastard) battalion in WWII. These men were amazing. Serving primarily under Patton, they penetrated the Siegfried Line, allowing US forces into Germany.

Trump apparently directed the Army Corps of Engineers to meddle in local water policy and angered a whole bunch of farmers—and likely his supporters—all to try to win a political point. The water appears to be directed to recently *FLOODED* farm lands.
