Wrapped up my 6th #book of 2025 with The Antique Hunter's Guide to Murder by C. L. Miller.
I really, really wanted to enjoy this novel and while it had potential, it was bogged down by clunky storytelling and not enough time on character building aside from Freya.

Watched the 2015 #horror flick Ghoul tonight.
A fairly interesting take on the found footage angle focused on cannibalism and possession. Some impactful gore as well.
Very acceptable premise of Americans looking down on another culture and its people.

Unsurprisingly, amazing world building but to say this is about the "children" of Hurin is a bit misleading as the daughter is barely mentioned and primarily used as a punishment for the son, so...

Watched the #horror / found footage film Behind the Sightings last night and...woof.
I was already not vibing with the flick but then the male lead decided to harass a black woman on how "clown lives matter" and that was gross.
No real upturn beyond the last clown scenes.

Finished my 2nd #book of 2025, Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo.
It was a quick read and well-paced but, honestly, think I preferred the TV show's take better (blasphemy, I know!) as it was not so weighed down with how "plain"/"ugly" Alina is which not a take I usually appreciate.

Finished my first #book of 2025, Play of Shadows by Sebastien de Castell which I got from Caffeine and Legends.
Solid start to the year. Was engrossed in the story & characters & the world is well built. I do think I would have enjoyed it more if I read the previous series.

Went to the movies earlier today to watch #Nosferatu and I WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT but my brain reminds me that it is still fairly new and I don't want to post spoilers so, for now, will just say it is beautiful, plenty of suspense, some laughs, and homages to horror films of old. #horrorsky
