Just watched Beatles ‘64 on Disney.

Scorcese: What would you say to John and George if they were here today?”

Paul: “I’d tell them I love them.”

I do love a bit of Suede and tonight it’s Live at the Albert Hall (2010). This one-off charity gig ended up kicking off the second phase of their career. The ecstatic crowd reaction made them think “We’re still pretty fkn good. Let’s make some more great albums”. #suede #vinyl #records

Now spinning: The Mission, Children (1988). Much better than their debut IMO. Standout tracks Beyond the Pale, Heat and of course the epic Tower of Strength. The band’s high point.

Now spinning: Station to Station. One of my favourite Bowie albums. Maybe topped by Low. Maybe Spiders. Maybe Hunky Dory. Tough one. What’s your favourite?

#TheCure and their masterpiece.

An album that needs no introduction.

From one of the best openers ever (Plainsong) to the underrated closer (untitled). An album with every track being special, being a classic.

One of the best albums ever.

Fair to say, yes I love it.

Suede, Night Thoughts (2016). This second album of the comeback era is one of their finest. Dog Man Star in middle age. Grandiose, symphonic, both dark and uplifting. “No Tomorrow” and “I Don’t Know How to Reach You” the standouts. Check it out if you’ve not heard it. 8/10. #vinyl #records #suede

New Order - Blue Monday (1983). Steeped in Factory folklore, is this the best 12” single of all time? Post punk barges its way onto the dance floor. It’s a yes from me. 10/10

Love by The Cult (1985). When The Cult began to emerge from their gothic cocoon and signal they were a major player. Nirvana is one of the best album openers of the 80s and sets the tone for the rest of the album. Billy Duffy’s guitar work peerless throughout. Full of goth/rock bangers. A solid 8/10
