Spider lilies are fickle, wont to appear for a fairly brief time as to herald the arrival of autumn ... It is when they bloom out of season that especially frighten the smallfolk, as they tend to serve as gates to the other world.

Hinako's used to communion with spirits of eld and the eldritch, and the Cornservant would naturally be the first Hinako encountered in Tural. She was glad to lend it her aid, which also helped her get her bearings in a new land.
