The little tomato-shaped ones (the fuyu) are good and snappy like a smooth apple when still-firm, but the unripe hachiya will evaporate all the fluid in your mouth out like a cursed wine yeah.

I essentially live next to this farm and they've always been good people to me. This is from their personal tree. They know I don't have money :') so they often give me free ugly vegetables like an unusual turnip or a thrashed cauliflower. The skin on these is not pretty but the insides are gold.

My local farmer gave me a pallet for practically free of over a dozen hachiya persimmons. Three or four have molded before I could get to them :( but two have ripened enough to process :) Once they are dark orange and feel like water balloons in hand, you cut the tops off and scoop the jelly out.

I don't know who needs to know this but Trader Joe's has gluten free pumpkin pie. (I can't show you a picture because my family ate it.)

We have something called the "wet burrito" which is a burrito you can't eat with your hands because it's buried under piles of sauce and pico de gallo, lettuce, etc.
