My 10 yo went to school today and will hopefully come home safe without being shot. It sucks here, and I’m doing active shooter training next week at work bc people shoot up universities too. So great!

How did I get into the Bundesliga, and how do I keep up with it? (1) I did my Fulbright & received. DAAD to do a year of study in Germany. The whole family came with one kid going to preschool ran out of a local church & one starting first grade with a Schultüte & everything. We loved our time there

All the time I wonder if I should aggressively be looking hard to move to Canada or Europe. It’s not hard to see a world where the Christian national dictatorship takes over, the Constitution is an annulled, troops are sent out to California and other states that are dissenting.

One of our students just found out she received the Fulbright. So excited for her. So infuriating that it is facing budget cuts and people are trying to kill a program that’s been around since WW2.

What’s so funny watching Superman comic twitter kill each other over canon is how simplistic the conversation is. There is no such thing as 1 canon. It is an amorphous thing that gets its authority both from the community (readers) & leaders (companies) who don’t always agree.

While I get that some are upset about the Els in Superman, it actually works well as an adoption allegory. When you don’t know much about your birth parents, you often come up w/ who you want them to be & getting to know more can a painful identity crisis rather than healing.

So many debates about “whose the mask” w/ Superman is too simplistic. We all have different personas. We aren’t always the same people at work vs home vs hometown etc. Kal-El/Clark is the same way. They’re all aspects of who he is. Identity is complicated

Please tell me #Superman comic discourse is better here bc it’s so toxic on X in the weirdest way. If you don’t conform to their head canon (mostly Silver Age) what you get from #Superman comic twitter is “you’re such an idiot and how dare you” as if pissed on the Bible during the Eucharist

#Superman was like an episode of the animated series or Justice League come to life. I do have quibbles, wish there was more (director’s cut anyone), and there’s a certain choice made I’m not the biggest fan of but it made sense for the film and will likely be explored in the Supergirl movie. 8/10.

Finished “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.” Still don’t know what to make of Mercer at the end, animals of any kind, being valued, real or electric, is cool, & there’s a badass scene where Deckard has to escape a fake android police dept. Would have been amazing on film.
