I spent my morning with Sean, who gave me an amazing tour of his Kusshi Oyster Farm - the result of generations of experience grounded in family and place.

Shellfish farms employ 1,000 British Columbians and strengthen our coastal communities, along with the B.C. Shellfish Growers Association.

Tucked away in the middle of downtown Campbell River is the BC Centre for Aquatic Health Sciences. This non-profit society located on B.C.’s coast has a state-of-the-art facility that researches and analyses aquatic life from our ocean and freshwater systems.

It’s Bat Week in B.C.!

There are 16 different kinds of bats here. They are the only mammal in the world capable of true flight and they can fly as fast as 160 km/hour. And they help us all by eating as many as 3,000 mosquitoes and other insects in one night.
