Bike tires have different compounds. Racing ones are softer and will wear out faster. Also pricier mostly. On a trainer you will run right on the center there by increasing localized wear. My fave tire for my road bike these days is the Schwalbe Durano. Wire bead, tough, good wear, not as grippy.
