I disagree--I think they're obviously right. If a policy doesn't have near unanimous support then it's not worth implementing. The liberum veto was the pinnacle of democracy and nothing bad ever happened because of it.

The real value is in forcing the GOP to stretch their resources even thinner. They're even more reliant on wealthy/corporate donors than the Dems, and those donors are usually much more interested in high profile races, forcing the national and state parties to make up the difference elsewhere.

I do feel like there's been a change though, media trust might finally be low enough now that they won't be able to swing a major election for the Republicans again.
