Gamescom was great, but the "big" showfloor was less interesting for me this year. Still, a few highlights:

CRONOS - by Blooper Team. If this wasn't on your radar already, I highly recommend it! Especially when you like games like DeadSpace or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or body horror aesthetics.
Me - on the right - next to a professional walking act of the Traveler (which is the main character of the game) - a person in a clonky suit of armour, reminiscent of a turn-of-the-last-century diving suit - and two nice guys I queued with in front of the Cronos both at Gamescom 2025. The Traveller walking act pointing a gun at the camera. Cronos merch bag in screaming red and a sticker sheet sitting on top of a black and white t-shirt with a screen-printed Traveller on it. Great merch that I got for queuing up to play the game at Gamescom.

I caved and bought the full display of Funism Evangelion Figurines at Gamescom. 😖

No regret. They're so well made!

It was a really successful day at #gamescom. Got very good feedback on our game pitch, networking at the @spielfabrique.bsky.social sustainability mixer was great and Showfloor bonus pictures: I got to ride a dragon and pose with stunning cosplayers and saw some amazing booth designs.

Went to the KMSKA to catch the Hans op de Beek exhibition in Antwerp and oh my gods, I'm just...blown away!

Driving down to Belgium for a family holiday with my folks and my dad's car has relics of the past.

We're not Christians. The St. Christopher's coin was standard issue back in the day, apparently, and do you young'uns even know what an iPod is nowadays?

The next movie we watched was Kaiju Guy - a most hilarious & heartfelt comedy about a guy who loves monster movies and eventually gets over being laughed at for his debut film in middle school & makes his dream come true when the mayor of his home town wants a PR movie from the tourist department.

Thursday we had two more screenings:

River Returns - a heartfelt and calm folktale meets ghost story. I liked it a lot because it was hopeful and very serene with a good message.🩷🩷🩷

Then we watched the Bizarre Short Film collection which was hit & miss. Upside Down Genius & Void were my favs 🩷

Watched Cells at Work this morning - completely blown away!! I know Takeuchi Hideki is a genius but with this one, he NAILED it. I was in tears of laughter in the first half and tears of sorrow in the second. And the end? All cheers again!! 🩷🩷🩷🩷

We're off to a great start!

We got a surprise ticket for New Nemuro Pro Wrestling Story which was surprisingly heartfelt and fun to watch.

Then we went to see The Gesuidouz - a great comedy about punk rock, misfits and their odd friend and the struggle of creatives - VERY relatable.

PERFECT! Amir: THIS HAS BEEN SO HELPFUL. THANKS!! YOU'RE THE BEST Player: Yeah, um. Anytime. The chat displays a system message: Amir went offline. This whole conversation is super interesting and clever, because Amir,, the fictional character is detailing a crucial design concept that is used in the game (Warframe) itself. Doors are a critical issue in game design both design- as also implementation-wise. the logistics and functionality of doors especially but not only in multiplayer games is a very broad subject matter where a lot of development resources sinks into something that, when done well, no player will EVER notice, but if done badly, can kill the fun in a game. People designing good door functionality in video games are the unsung heroes of GameDev.

That's a no-brainer for me. It's Jade Cocoon 2 one of my all-time favourite games. Although I have to say, Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits ("アークザラッド 精霊の黄昏" is a very close second.

The City Councillor was my favorite NPC to draw for @parkingworld.de - she's a lovely lady with a lot of chutzpah who will ask the player to build a Park & Ride solution so commuters use more public transport.
