Frankly, it's ludicrous. I want children to follow their passions as far as they want.
n.b. sorry for using "STEM". It is horrible and creates in decision-makers' minds categories of good and bad, included and excluded, fundable and non-fundable. It should go.

What this means is that the govt will say to kids during their schooling "look at these diverse subjects you can get excited about".
Then, when they get to uni, the same govt shapes a system that just asks "why aren't you doing STEM?" We don't think other things are worthwhile.
