Curiously, this OG version's sequel (which I saw first) reused so much footage from the OG, I wondered ift I'd already seen it for the fist five minutes. When the OG started reusing that footage itself I laughed.

[2/2] It's a perfectly okay, Tuesday evening, mildly uplifting and mildly amusing story of a family of mildly unpleasant and mildly useless people. The cast worked hard with what they were given and the director absolutely turned up each day. Wrapping presents to it, chuckle a bit, then forget.
