If you're a true humanist, then every act or thought, whether political, religious, spiritual, medical, or otherwise philosophical, is ultimately a personal act or thought. Because humanism is about people. About persons. And how that species fits into - not above or below - the whole of existence.
Watching the #Witcher and a scene made me think, “Oh, yes, darling, that sounds lovely. A restful holiday spent at the Winter Dungeons. Then maybe we’ll do the new year at the Spring Rathole.” :)

What has been need not always be what is.
There is a sense of time that must erase the world that is what was and built the now.
Against such force, what armed and booted thugs can stand and keep their sense of distance from the truth?

Everything that is created is consumed. Everything that creates consumes. Everything that is consumed consumes. Everything is consumed. Nothing remains. It won’t leave.

OK, so it was like 1976. I just started playing electric guitar and even was taking lessons. My teacher was actually amazed when I came in and played this song. Where did you learn that? Of course it was the coolest thing on that BCR album. youtu.be/eUcW9Q68o-k?...

The world is like a file folder system in which everything has its right folder, label, drawer, shelf, cabinet, space, wall, room, floor, building, block, neighborhood, suburb, city, metropolitan area, county/parish, region, state, country, continent, land mass, planet, etc. And your whole life is spent figuring that out. So there, you’ve saved a minute. Don’t thank me.

Why wasn’t this a trailer for The Planet of the Apes: “Be careful who you call your pets. And how you treat them. Evolution doesn’t end the way you think it does.”?

Among the positions I don’t want to apply for, your blind obedient servant or mute pliable yet surprisingly nimble underling. Though those ARE my resume, those are not periods anyone should want to focus on to get on with the business of getting through life as well and far as you can.

I don’t understand. Which world do you wish to conquer? Is it the same one you and I share? Is there something wrong about it I don’t know?

I guess to really understand me you need to know I was raised playing folk and country music, taught classical music, learned jazz, inherited everything, invented nothing, idolized only two things, abject opposites in every bad way: the Beatles and Kiss. These parallels I understand.

I believe I’ve just coined a Twainism: being old enough to remember when the Internet was just a dot, and not a com.

I love hearing songs I haven’t heard in a while. That’s why I’ll test drive streaming service playlists like “70s Hard Rock” and hope for the best: that it will include essentials like AC/DC, Sabbath, Kiss, UFO, NWOBHM, BOC, etc., along with the usual suspects Zeppelin, Floyd, Bowie, Purple,…

Scams (like all these fake accounts on BlueSky) succeed because they tap into something we can't fight. That urge to be drawn to good-looking, sweet acting, polite, and yet intriguing, con artists because we WANT the world to be full of good-looking, sweet acting people who give a shit about us.

You will never run out of stuff. No matter how hard you try to get rid of it, no difference how you lose or can longer lay hands on it. You will accumulate more stuff without even thinking about it. Trust me. Plan on buying a bigger house next time. And NEVER skimp on storage.

Each of us is undeniably, absolutely, and very uniquely beautiful. Until someone tells us we are not. Hell IS other people.

For most music, it’s not apples and oranges, where you know one but not the other. No different kinds of music are all apples. Some are Golden Delicious. Some are Granny Smith. From Gala to MacIntosh, you can find your genre there. Because it’s ALL music & all music is apples. And u like ‘em or not.

I played my first gig more than 50 years ago. I played my last regular gig during COVID, and then played a "comeback" show at the Folk Festival this past summer. Do I miss playing? Absolutely. But am I desperately seeking out new musical opportunities? Perhaps. But not too desperately.

Will you be respectable down at the spectacle
once the event has begun?
When do you plan to have fun?
How long does a show like that run?

Will you be elegant at the extravagance
after the champagne is gone?
What will be left to build on?

This is a test to see exactly how much I can actually say in a designed to be brief and punchy newsworthy if not deliciously quotable sound-byte, i.e., social media post, and if not particularly meaningful, at least captures the attention for a little minute, while you try to figure out exactly why.
