I love narrativizing media trends with politics for the vibes. This could fit into a media trend of dealing with the results of ‘cancel culture’ and unambiguous bad behavior that used to be acceptable. e.g. stuff like:

I am aware this is not the question you asked or what a lot of people are saying. But 🤷🏻♀️ them being bad at understanding the problem doesn’t change that this my hypothesis of where it’s all coming from.

The time range I will put up for this is ‘the 90s’ (though I could pick anywhere from 1970-2010) as there was still a lot of space in the economy that’s since been closed off.

Regulatory capture up and down the economy, housing prices, as well as overall real estate accessibility to anyone who isn’t a hedge fund. All driven by distortions from capital concentrations proving fuel for various kinds of government overregulation

I’ll step up to bat. the problem people are talking in circles around isn’t general affordability. As you say, things are cheaper and people are making more money than ever. Just look at our TVs!
But the real problem is that _wealth generation_, has become extremely locked down.

I wonder if there’s a take that exists around ‘Tactics are a marketing tool to attract infantry members’. Tactics as a component of logistics / operations, rather than the end result of them.

It would be so nice not to be the political football of choice for a few years. Everyone gets their turn at the kicking post but it’ll be nice for ours to cool down a little.

Yes!! And maybe get some water or food or something so that the ‘dying’ feeling recedes enough to give you some space to feel the response you need.

Yes, totally. You can use the logic to _integrate_ or address the emotion. But you can’t use that logic to reject the emotion / yourself.

But as soon as they are externalized, you can re-assert logic and wider ideas in order to resolve them. Or maybe i’ve just trained myself to trust my capacity to utilize figure-it-out rationalism.

I’ve realized that emotions _need_ to be externalized in some way for them to become integrated. Until you satisfy that need, the emotion will keep coming up or worse, dissolve into the background that you then need to excavate.

Especially in the wake of Charlie Kirk, and how each different constituency got a different face.
There was the "Take Donald Trump seriously but not literally" thing during his first time. But I feel like part of the scandal of that _was_ that they where asking us to engage in this behavior.
