Encouraged to see EDI recommendations woven throughout: so many EDI initiatives seek to increase demand as an early step, processes that follow need to be ready, and uphold and align with those priorities

With Public Lending Right, the author doesn’t get royalties per borrow, but they do based on an estimate of copies held by libraries: more copies in circulation, more likely libraries will keep in collection or buy additional copies

0-5 includes Kindergarten with daycare. Quebec started rolling out free kindergarten for 4 year olds around 2018-19, and hoped to free up CPE (daycare) spots with the change.

A2 #LTHE chat - for me thinking whether something is 'industry-specific' can be a helpful framing. Also, thinking beyond knowledge, but also to attitudes, values, priorities. Reflecting on own experience: is this something I learned? If so, how, and in what context.

In Montreal, the @dandq.bsky.social bookstore has a great zine section, and a ton of books from small presses and local authors (they also published a couple of the books you snagged from @silversprocket.net )!

And Expozine, an annual zine fair where you can buy right from the artists themselves!

Totally! Rush through defining a problem and the first solution you’re drawn to might in fact be part of the problem! All the more reason to encourage the person who wants it to draft it? Best case scenario a chance think through some of the challenges of implementation as they start writing.

Good thinking! I’ve found: “Could you please send me an initial draft so I can make sure I’ve grasped the scope/nuance of what you’re envisioning? Here’s my template to get you started.” usually gets a yes, and also tends to speed along any approval process that follows.

I've found that, if you do find yourself feeling good after you get going, it can help to stop a little bit before you've run out of things to say - then next time you can look forward to finishing what you've started, instead of getting started all over again
