According to the Nazis: The evidence was all fake, the prosecution winners revenge, and anyway, Hitler and Himmler did it all themselves.

They hung (or in the case of Goering, died) convinced they were the good Germans.

After seeing the MASSIVE amount of evidence of intentional mass murder, evidence they created, they were still utterly convinced they were the good guys.

Only one was smart enough to pretend contrition, Albert Speer. Saved his life too.

In the trial, footage of the camps is shown and victims testified, but it was actually years later, during the Eichmen trial that the true extent of the crimes against the Jews really became the central story of German fascism. It took a couple decades to develop collective guilt
