It is a study about estimates, based in the Cognitive Estimation Test which used similar style of questions. Just like the original, we expect the estimates will vary with age, education, nationality etc and that's not a problem for the research question. :)

for this reason, we chose topics that people would not likely know much at the outset. If people can guess the answers already, then we would not include these questions in stage 2.

:) thanks - we are doing this to get a baseline of what people would randomly guess before we teach them about these topics. in stage 2 of the experiment we'll be teaching people about the coventry blitz and seeing the estimates move. We're then interested in forgetting and how the estimates regress
