Questo mi preoccupa molto fa bene l’On. (non lo faranno) > One in four of 13- to 17-year-olds have used an AI chatbot for mental health support in the past year, with black children twice as likely as white children to have done so, the study found. > > … > > Hanna Jones, a youth violence and mental health researcher in London, said: “To have this tool that could tell you technically anything – it’s almost like a fairytale. You’ve got this magic book that can solve all your problems. That sounds incredible.” > > But she is worried about the lack of regulation. > > “People are using ChatGPT for mental health support, when it’s not designed for that,” she said. “What we need now is to increase regulations that are evidence-backed but also youth-led. This is not going to be solved by adults making decisions for young people. Young people need to be in the driving seat to make decisions around ChatGPT and mental health support that uses AI, because it’s so different to our world. We didn’t grow up with this. We can’t even imagine what it is to be a young person today.” Source: _‘I feel it’s a friend’: quarter of teenagers turn to AI chatbots for mental health support | Chatbots | The Guardian_ If you like this post, please consider sharing it.

> Artificial intelligence and automated systems are increasingly under scrutiny by states for potentially allowing discrimination in employment. California is the latest state to implement regulation that could give workers more power to push back on decisions made or aided by automated systems and AI. Other states that have passed similar regulations include New York, Illinois and Colorado, with the enforcement of Colorado’s legislation set to begin next year. As more states jump on the bandwagon, the outcome of Mobley’s case may have implications on how courts handle claims of workplace discrimination tied to AI and other technologies, attorneys said. DeepSeek Debuts New AI Models to Rival Google and OpenAI – Bloomberg
> * China’s DeepSeek unveiled two new versions of an experimental artificial-intelligence model, adding fresh capabilities to help with combining reasoning and executing certain actions autonomously. > * The new version, DeepSeek-V3.2, matches the performance of OpenAI Inc.’s flagship GPT-5 across multiple reasoning benchmarks and combines human-like reasoning with the capability to use tools like search engines and calculators. > * DeepSeek also released DeepSeek-V3.2-Speciale, which focuses on mathematical computations and matches the performance of Google’s latest Gemini-3 Pro, and performed at gold medal levels on standardized tests like the International Math Olympiad. > Source: _DeepSeek Debuts New AI Models to Rival Google and OpenAI – Bloomberg_ If you like this post, please consider sharing it.

Commission fines X €120 million under the Digital Services Act – Commissione UE
> Today, the Commission has issued a fine of €120 million to X for breaching its transparency obligations under the Digital Services Act (DSA). Republican leaders explore options for AI law measure – The Hill – Parlamento 3, Trump 0
> GOP lawmakers previously sought to include a 10-year moratorium on state AI laws in Trump’s tax and spending bill earlier this year, but the provision was stripped out amid resistance from fellow Republicans. > > House Republican leaders renewed the push in late November, eyeing the NDAA as a potential vehicle for the preemption provision. They once again faced pushback from members of their own party, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. > > Trump jumped into the debate and urged Congress to pass a ban on state AI laws as part of the NDAA or as a separate bill. He also appeared to be considering an executive order to target state AI measures, but lawmakers reportedly urged the president to hold off as they continued efforts to include it in the must-pass defense bill. > > The White House and its allies have argued that preemption is necessary in order to avoid a patchwork of state laws that could weigh on innovation as the U.S. competes with China for dominance over the technology. > > “There’s still an interest in making sure that you don’t have states like California that wreck the ability to innovate in artificial intelligence, similar to what Europe did to wreck their innovation,” Scalise said Tuesday. Apple’s Top Designer Alan Dye Poached by Meta in Major Coup – Bloomberg
> > … > > With the Dye hire, Meta is creating a new design studio and putting him in charge of design for hardware, software and AI integration for its interfaces. > > He will be reporting to Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth, who oversees Reality Labs. Ecco. > The rapid evolution of AI-capable PC hardware represents more than just an incremental upgrade. It signals a coming shift in the PC industry that’s likely to wipe away the last vestiges of the PC architectures designed in the ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s. > > The combination of increasingly powerful NPUs, unified memory architectures, and sophisticated software-optimization techniques is closing the performance gap between local and cloud-based AI at a pace that has surprised even industry insiders, such as Bathiche. > > It will also nudge chip designers toward ever-more-integrated chips that have a unified memory subsystem and to bring the CPU, GPU, and NPU onto a single piece of silicon—even in high-end laptops and desktops. AMD’s Subramony said the goal is to have users “carrying a mini workstation in your hand, whether it’s for AI workloads, or for high compute. You won’t have to go to the cloud.” > > A change that massive won’t happen overnight. Still, it’s clear that many in the PC industry are committed to reinventing the computers we use every day in a way that optimizes for AI. Spazio, Ultima frontiera!
