In our case, we had 2 major planned shutdowns simultaneously this year, 17k hours of overtime across maybe 100-ish maintenance workers and they’re still convinced we’re overstaffed and wanna rent us out to other plants to do maintenance there while we barely keep our own shit afloat

Woah, I figured it was specialised to some degree but that sounds cool as hell!
Sometimes I get the feeling that they either refuse to see the value of their people or maybe we just spoil them by constantly fixing old and broken shit and stretching ourselves thin to maintain the status quo

I don’t think higher-ups can ever understand the amount of care and dedication that goes into maintaining old machinery. Sometimes I’d love to see them try doing it better than their specialised personnel
