Saw this yesterday and thought, why is it always The Atlantic lately with this crap? Could have sworn I used to like it over there?

It’s like Jesus always said, “f**k that guy, screw them, who gives a flying crap about your neighbor, or the poor for that matter, and don’t get me started on the meek, they’re the absolute worst.”

Great times we’re in when THIS is the “not as bad” option.

“The system is broken, you’re right.” That’s where a Democrat has to start to win. It helps that it’s true! This trans stuff is ridiculous. Classic Dem thinking one issue is what did it when it’s the entire pitch that doomed them from the start.

Same.

My mother voted for Trump. All I could manage was not sending an impotent rage text that she never would have responded to, thereby making today all that much worse only for myself (sorry to be a bummer on this sweet thought).

Honestly I don't think "left" or "right" seems to matter to a great swath of the country any more (also, moral decency and telling the truth and not being racist). It's the person who says "the system is broken" who wins the day, and it apparently doesn't matter what else is said around it.

The current numbers do not reflect the term "nearly" (IMO).
November 6, 2024 at 6:29 PM
He won because he said "this system is broken." She lost because she wouldn't. Unfortunately, she would have helped the system (such as it is), and he will make it even worse. In doing so, he'll only add to the number of people who think it's pointless to even try. Bleak stuff!

Deactivated X last night. My wife has been telling me for a while, every time you reload that dam scrawl you're just supporting Musk. Life won't be anything than better without it.
November 6, 2024 at 5:45 PM
Woke up today wondering how I could manage going into the kid's room (6 and 3). And then I saw their faces and remembered that there is nothing more important to me in this life. "Normal" around them will be horrendous. But the beautiful pocket of the world you create for them will be exactly that.

No.
November 6, 2024 at 5:49 AM
Oh this was two hours ago. You meant calm about her chances! I meant calm about the hellscape of the next four years we most likely all have to suffer through now. My bad! 🤦‍♂️
November 6, 2024 at 5:49 AM
I started to panic when it all went south for her. Went for a walk with the kids and decided I’m not going to live in a state of constant panic over him like I did last time. I just can’t go back there. I’m pretty low right now, this is the worst possible time line. But I too am feeling calm.
November 6, 2024 at 5:45 AM
You should run in four years on this platform. Although not sure you’ll win, unfortunately.
November 6, 2024 at 5:16 AM
Sleep accepting it’s over. Maybe you wake up to a miracle? Two hours ago I thought to myself “I cannot spend the next four years in the state I was last time.” I’m going to try to stick to that. Protect whatever pocket of the world you have.
November 6, 2024 at 5:09 AM
Last time was better. This time the writing seems to be on the wall, I’m terribly sorry to say.
November 6, 2024 at 5:08 AM
The winner of the primary could have defined themselves against the current administration. At least there might have been a chance. Still a loss probably. The country is filled with people who can no longer understand cause, effect, or context. And consequences don’t exist. Until they do.
November 6, 2024 at 5:05 AM
Biden would have done worse. But we will never know what would have happened with a regular primary like we should have had when he decided not to run a second time. This is fully on the American people, not Harris, but Biden was as selfish with his choice as so many of them are being tonight.
November 6, 2024 at 4:47 AM
It’s over, or close to it. I’d love to believe otherwise but the writing appears to be on the wall. Only good thing tonight is I got to erase Twitter again early, never to return. Maybe the horrendous case of buyers remorse the country will experience the next four years will flip us back to blue.

So it all comes down to Nevada 🤮
November 6, 2024 at 3:06 AM
Sorry, win it. I like the phrase but then immediately realized in this crazy age it could imply cheating.
