Our Summer Reading Challenge is live! Pick up a bingo card at the bookstore or save this image! Party at the end of the summer to celebrate our summer reading & give out a few prizes from local businesses.
Summer Reading Bingo card- 1st row- Banned book, book of poetry, write a review and share with QRB on socials, '24-25 award nominee or winner, book in translation 2nd row- childhood favorite, read out of your comfort zone, listen to an audio book, indies introduce/indie pick, make a recipe from a cookbook and share a pic to QRB on socials 3rd row- buddy read, history book, free space, judge a book by its cover and read it, NC author 4th row- bookseller recommends, queer author, Wake County Battle of the Books book, share a fave bookish quote and tag QRB on socials, ask a kid for a book rec 5th row- read a book outside, take a pic and share to QRB on socials, book adapted to tv or movie, debut author, cozy mystery, get crafty over a book (make a craft inspired by a book) 1 Bingo gets a grand prize entry (up to 5) and a bag of ARCs at the end of the summer, blackout gets you 7 entries & a free RC membership w/ a bag of ARCs. We will select the GP winner at the end of summer celebration. Drop by the store when you get a bingo and we will add you to the guest list!

We do not view these statements as particularly political, simply as affirmation that we see, appreciate, and seek to uplift our community members. Despite this, we are aware that some people will view these affirmations as too political for a community bookstore that does not serve a political mission. We hope that those who hold that view will understand that our doors remain open to them, but we refuse to close our doors to those in the most need of everything a bookstore provides: knowledge, acceptance, solace, and guidance.

We support our racially diverse community. We acknowledge that traditional publishing was long a place where Black authors, indigenous authors and authors of several other races were excluded and that even now the playing field is far from level, so we will continue to highlight books about and authors of all races and origins. We support our immigrant community. We appreciate that we are stronger together. We don’t make assumptions regarding citizenship status, and we do not call immigration enforcement. We support our disabled community. We strive to maintain an environment that is accessible to a wide range of abilities and needs, and we do our best to accommodate the specific needs of our event attendees — please reach out to us at any time about a way that we can serve you better.

Hi Quail Ridge Community, A number of booksellers are feeling overwhelmed by the recent news cycle. We know that’s true of many of our customers, too; it’s being expressed both directly and through the books people are interested in — whether those are nonfiction guides to current events or engaging fiction as a means of temporary escape. As a community bookstore, we try to be broadly welcoming. But we’re at a time when specifics are needed and unstated values do need to be made clear. We support the freedom to read. We welcome readers, and we seek to provide a selection where every part of our community is reflected — across gender, race, sexuality, and religion. We oppose censorship that seeks to reduce the freedom of others to choose what books are appropriate for themselves and their families. We support teachers and media specialists in their curation of titles and their fights against censorship in classrooms and both school and public libraries. We do not share customer information, including purchase information. We support our LGBTQIA+ community. We welcome you, and we wish to be a safe place for you. We do not invade the privacy or police the gender expression of those using the multi-stall ladies’ room; we have long described our single-person restroom with the baby-changing station as open for anyone, regardless of how they identify.
