Happy wip Wednesday! Take a gander at my baseball player Eddie/private chef Buck crack fic 😌 Eddie is soooo normal about meeting Buck for the first time #buddie
He drives over to the restaurant he’s meeting Carla and Buck at early, even though the reservation isn’t until 12:30. It’s not that he doesn’t like meeting new people, he meets thousands of new people at every game and sometimes at open practices. This is just different, more personal. He’s about to meet a stranger and possibly invite them into his home, his safe space that he shares with his son, and that idea is… daunting, at best. It’s reasonably busy, as this place always is, so after checking in with the hostess and being told their reserved spot just needs to be wiped down, he heads over to the bar. Is it a bad idea to drink before this? He’s never done an interview like this before. Is this even an interview? He told Carla he’d be happy to hire Buck as long as he wasn’t a serial killer, so this is just a formality at this point, right? Just to make sure the guy doesn’t stink like stale cigarettes and won’t scare his kid. A beer is fine, probably. It’s chill, relaxed, shows he doesn’t take himself too seriously but isn’t about getting drunk at midday. Plus he doesn’t have practice until later, so one couldn’t hurt. He’s probably overthinking this. Why is he overthinking this? It’s not like this is a date or something. Why are his hands sweaty?
