Speaking at the Scottish International Development Alliance’s conf a few months ago, wee Green me argued amidst MSPs, MPs, & senior political party reps that our insistence on development aid abroad cannot be at odds with our treatment of crisis-stricken immigrants at home.

Delighted to meet with the Scottish Wildilife Trust @scotwildlife.bsky.social to gain their advice on how best parties can use the upcoming Scottish Parliament election campaigns to do good for nature, prioritise local ecologies, and fight for well-being, resilience, and sustainable economies.

@katenevens.bsky.social & I visited Parliament courtesy our MSP @lornaslater.bsky.social w discussions & dreams for Holyrood ‘26.

We want a kind campaign of peoples & places—our ecologies, local communities, heritage, social enterprises, healthcare & social workers—which all deeply intersect.

Tomorrow’s the day with teams out all of today delivering poll cards, reminding you to #VoteQ1 and #VoteScottishGreens in Fountainbridge-Craiglockhart.

Tenants’ rights, inclusive governance, road safety, preserving our local ecologies — let’s usher in something fresh in local politics.
June 25, 2025 at 8:00 PM
It’s the final week of poll cards & I’m revisiting doors I’d previously knocked on with a reminder that the vote is on Thursday, & it’s such an important moment in our area’s politics.

A chance for something new, for action, for kindness, or a return to the same old.

Let’s have Craiglockhart celebrated as our city’s greenest village, & safeguard our communities, homes, and streets with participatory governance in Fountainbridge.🌿

Vote for a different voice in the council, on the 26th of June.

Over the course of the campaign I’ve heard so many residents talk about the love we have for the canal in our area. I’ve had some of my dearest memories & walks there.

That’s why, as part of a busy day campaigning this Saturday, I’ll be popping into the canal festival. I hope to see you there!

More canvassing in Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart today!

I spoke to long-term residents & people of colour, on running businesses, building communities, & feeling accepted in our beautiful ward. We agreed that development—like tram links—must mind ecological realities (eg. w. the Roseburn Path).

I delivered an important letter today to all postal voters in Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart. 🚪

Tell friends, enemies, family, co-workers, strangers, & most of all, your pets (so they know me) to vote Q MANIVANNAN [1] 🌿

Let’s do this 🏳️‍🌈

We had Greens & supporters from neighbourhoods in Fountainbridge, Craiglockhart, as well as from Glasgow, St Andrews, & Livingston today!

Canvassing on Watson Crescent meant wonderful interactions (despite the thunder & rain) on the future of our (very green) area!

Thanks to all who came 💚

Craiglockhart’s rolling green hills & gorgeous community make it Edinburgh’s greenest village - a badge I’m keen to establish for our area.

I look forward to working with residents, developers & local organisations to push ecologically attuned & sustainable growth here!

From today! 💚

Every session has seen great numbers + folks coming in from Fife, Glasgow, Livingston, & Stirling to help.

This isn’t just about the by-election. It’s listening to folks in our area who’ve gone unheard, for far too long.

It’s time for something new.

Condescending mockery is a tool of information warfare, what Peter Singer wrote to be a blurring of lines between physical/online conflicts.

Israel also builds capacity for such projects with a reward system (Stern-Hoffman 2016) giving students scholarships for pro-Israel media campaigns.

Yet another afternoon well spent, canvassing & speaking to residents in Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart with @bkarb.bsky.social 🚪🌿

What do we mean by the word “local”?

What’s local in Shandon is not what’s local in Tollcross or Merchiston, in an area as diverse as Fountainbridge-Craiglockhart.

On 26th June, vote for a new voice in city chambers, drawn from a decade’s career in community building.

The best morning! Rain couldn’t stop the Summer Fair at the Craiglockhart Primary School, & I saw so many familiar faces — friends, residents I’ve met the past weeks knocking doors, and more. This is home 💜

Before that — a big group canvassing session around Appin!

When I say ours is a people-powered campaign, I mean it!

My team of campaigners & supporters, including many volunteer residents, are working tirelessly to speak to as many people as possible, to use canvassing to build communities, & best represent the FC area.

Just finished knocking on over 60 doors today on Ashley Terrace.

Before the by-elections were announced, @gavincorbett.bsky.social & I, with many other locals, demonstrated for a pedestrian crossing here at the junction on Ashley Terrace.

Direct action matters.

64 doors today knocked on today with the incredible Robbie Walker and while many were out for a well deserved Friday evening, those we met were happy to have their potential representatives at the door —

I’m surprised (I shouldn’t be) at how rare it is for politicians to actually talk to people.
May 30, 2025 at 9:18 PM
Knocked on 50+ doors today in Merchiston with my best friend Locals were concerned about the upcoming development at the brewery, canalside safety, issues with speeding.

Warm responses across political divides — to converse kindly amidst disagreement, that’s the bedrock of a caring community.

Canvassing this evening with Cllr Ben Parker (Morningside) & other excellent volunteers. I’m so grateful to learn from Greens currently in council, their challenges, understand how we can best do good by the people in our area.

Cross-ward coordination is key for a better, kinder council 🌸🌿
