now by zhong chunji's own logic you would think that that would make make chi yun and tang lici by association suspects in the case, right? wrong! in the fastest case of 人设崩塌 i've seen recently, zhong chunji accepts the guy's confession bc ??? as the mc tang lici can't possibly be the bad guy ig

this logic would stand except half an episode later you have chi yun (tang lici's self-proclaimed bodyguard) LITERALLY forcing a confession out of the 捕快 through violence

for example, during the initial murder case, based on a brief convo and zero evidence, zhong chunji concludes that tang lici must have been framed. she also quickly concludes that, since the 捕快 tried to force a confession from a-shei, he must be the real culprit bc he's trying to wrap the case asap

re: the writing, i found it wildly uneven. the main throughline mostly? made logical sense, but the finer details were oftentimes wildly illogical

also this ribbon dancing..... sure is something

on that note, i've seen people lauding the cgi and while there are definitely moments when it's pretty impressive, there are also moments like this when it's just. not good.

like you can have your excessive cgi and 凹造型-style fighting, but can't you at least shoot and edit the footage in a way that keeps things pacey and visually engaging?

not saying you can't use slow-mo to great effect sometimes, but when you string so many slow-mo shots together in a row it rly slows down the pace and sucks the life out of what should be an exciting, blood-pumping fight scene

first off, for a show that has so many big action set pieces, the director is... really freaking bad at directing action scenes 😭
