This weekend my brother came home to Denmark and my parents hosted a traditional Danish "Mortensaften" meal. 3 ducks for 8 adults and 2 children. Complete with "Risalamande" for dessert.

My second cousin surprised me with a gift. A portrait of our great grandmother. I have inherited a portrait of our great grandfather from my dad and they are taken at the same time. Perfect fit. I love that I can now hang great grandmother Karen up where she belongs.

I'm so happy that they are together and in a family that sends us videos and images. It is very difficult to let them go, but at least they are together.
We miss them.

Just noticed that it is national black cat day today - on the day that our 3 black cats moved out to their new family.

My foster kittens and their mother moved out today. A family with two kids and one cat already took in all 3 of them as a forever home. I'm so happy they are all together and with a great family.
It is very quiet here now.

Ada Lovelace Day is tomorrow and funnily enough it is also the day our foster kitten Ada (named after Ada Lovelace) is moving to her new adoptive family.

Our foster kitten Dot has been adopted!
She was the smallest one of the litter, but the first to take steps and to get out of the basket they were in the first few weeks. It is fitting that she is also the first to leave the family.
Her new family already sent videos of her playing.

It is getting serious. Tomorrow one of our foster kittens Dot is leaving to be with her forever family. This is the hard part of fostering, so I'm taking the day off.

Our small village has 1400 people. Our local history society has nearly 1000 Facebook followers. In an age where attention is priceless, that means a lot.
That we might have to close the archive, because of local politics is another matter. I'm not thinking about that today.

I can't believe that we only had Dot for 3 months. She was 10 days old, when we started fostering her.

Choosing pictures for the foster kittens adoption page is so difficult. Ada, Bellini and Dot has gone up on the website. Carl still needs to be accepted, because he is lacking two front teeth that they use for telling the age of a kitten. Hope they find great homes!

Saturday with the foster kittens. They are old enough for adoptions but we are waiting for their second vaccine before putting their pictures on the website. I certainly don’t mind keeping them for another week. So loving and cute.

11 weeks old now. I had to take profile pictures for their health books so their vaccinations and neutering could be registered correctly. Now they just need one more vaccination and then they are ready to find a family.

I still try to nap with them every day. They are more interested in cuddling now after their long shelter stay. Very loving.

In a week they are put up for sale by the shelter. They just need to be old enough by Danish law. I will miss them, but I can also feel that mama cat is annoyed by them. She still feeds them, but only for short periods. She used to purr while feeding. Now the kittens purr while feeding, not her.

Update on the foster kittens. They are now 11 weeks old and getting big.
They had a long stay at the cat shelter when they had to go in for neutering. The shelter is busy and missing vet help, so they were taken one by one with a long recovery.
They are much better now.
