That is the right kind of trauma to be treated by EMDR. From a complex trauma specialist who is fed up with people asking whether EMDR would help them.

Makes sense. Sounds like you made the right choice. If death (yours or theirs) feels like the only way out of a relationship then sounds like that relationship isn't good for your sense of personal agency.

How about you and he work together to learn to pick up your own dirty clothes, use the washing machine, dry and put away the clothes, clean the toilet properly after you've had a shit, and leave the kitchen looking like the cleaner's just been. Like normal human beings.

She hasn't tried it, as far as I know. The cats, however, all enjoy it.
