So you could say a few bucks in inflation costs?

Moving famously doesn’t cost money.

People like to be confidently lied to.

I think it's a TikTok/Instagram thing. It looks so ridiculous. And now you see ads using this style to appear "authentic" or to trick people into thinking it's not really an ad.

It really makes me irrationally angry. It just looks so douchy. These people are ruining the Internet.

This is somehow even more gross.

I didn’t know you were allowed to post good, sincere content on LinkedIn.

I don’t blame young kids who were subjected to this madness, but anyone older can simply just google what a word means and how to pronounce it. Randomly guessing and then getting mad at people seems like a poor way to handle things.

It’s a new-agey American primary education thing that is getting significant blowback over the last few years because a bunch of kids can’t read, and it wasn’t based on solid research.

I mean a lot can’t. There was a whole thing earlier this year about how high schools and colleges don’t ask students to read full novels anymore. Also, more than half of US adults can’t read at a 6th grade level.

Part of why this happens is that VC money flows to people who make wild claims (and the VCs delude themselves into thinking this time it will work). It’s surprisingly hard to get funding if you are a grounded company of experts who are pitching to build a sold-to-strong business.

Something like more than 50% of American adults read below a sixth grade level.

The old-school web was text based as you allude to. People need strong reading skills to support that. Instead we get Instagram and TikTokers.

I don’t think anyone called Hunter S. Thompson’s work “gossipy” at the time of writing.

This reeks of writing that is trying to sound smart to appeal to the leadership class that likes to make references to things that didn’t actually read.

I just love how AI is constantly doing things that would get real employees fired, and people keep using it.

Simulating progress sounds like what a lot of office workers do. Ship it!
