… why isn’t their a broader emphasis on reaffirming that as still true with the understanding that IT is still the silver bullet that can allow us to design systems that are more user-centric/user-governed?

Mentioning just For the heck of it, but wondering why the conversation of IT as a tool to promote either more direct democracy or as a tool to closer approximate popular opinion as the determinant of policy isn’t something I see more of.
