The John Candy documentary really was good. If you get the chance to see it. And they really talked about this part of the movie.

I have grown up and moved on and I prefer a 2nd turney dinner with all the typical fixings. My inlaws like ham. The number of meals I have had at their house that involves ham. So. Much. Ham. And cole slaw at every "special" meal. So much cole slaw.

Xmas was roast beef and I thought for years that I didn't like beef bc it was the only beef I ate each year and hated it. I found out years after I left home that my grandfather (who made the meal like his mother taught him) was terrible at cooking beef. He boiled it for 4 hours. It was terrible.

My mil stopped asking and gets me pajama pants and a new long sleeve shirt every year

I just saw this and yeah I laughed.

Sigh. This was totally like my old terrible boss. She was even given gifts that she was supposed to raffle off for the entire office (not just oir team) that she took home instead. An iPad, a home monitor, etc. people like this assume everything is for them. Ugh
