Further on the Qobuz complaints: it’s 2025. What the fuck is this? Did they decide to pay the musicians and instead fire all the good developers?

Served with grilled cheese sandwiches with three different kinds of cheese, because I gave in to the shouty CHEESE! voice in my head.

Apparently this is a thing, and I am obscurely delighted that it is.

It’s not clear how these residues change the virus’ capabilities yet, although it may be conformational changes needed for viral replication.

It has *something* to do with how the virus binds host ANP32 protein, which is vital to copy DNA/RNA. Human ANP32 binding is temp-sensitive, chicken isn’t.

Day 1 at PAX, even before breakfast, somebody slammed my thumb in a door and cracked the crap out of that nail, so I had to take the polish off when we got home.

Upside: fall nails! 💅

Some days I wonder why I buy her fancy treats - she can’t possibly taste them at that speed - and then I remember the wriggly joy with which she greets every new food and get her dog cookies or something.

Is this what you wanted, Senator Cassidy? Is this TRAVESTY enough to salve your conscience for your vote?

Today’s coffee mug, in which a smaller size is balanced by a more fervent sentiment.

For the first time, I have almost exact measurements for how long one set of watermarbled nails takes to do: almost the first episode of the PBS Revolutionary War documentary, plus one small digression for J to be indignantly wrong about the pronunciation of the HMS Gaspee. (He’s from Rhode Island.)

I have zero need or budget to buy oligos right now, but I *do* honestly want that “Gene Day” shirt very much. @twistbioscience.com just needs to sell their swag directly!

Your last saved meme is your moral philosophy (and I’m not counting Erin’s, which I absolutely saved as soon as I saw it.)

Finally obtained a copy of one of my favorite bartender’s book - Micah runs the bar at the Alley Light in Charlottesville, and he does some *unreal* things with seasonal and foraged ingredients.

They have *such* good eye candy shoes. I have a pair of these - the buckles are skulls.

Dear internet fashion-knowers: I am looking for a pair of boots. Specifically this kind of boot, but in actual leather, not fake leather.

I beseech thee - someone please tell me where I can find this?
