Despite being a massive skeptic of its premise, I thoroughly loved Eddington. It’s one of the defining American films of the 2020s, alongside Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flowers Moon, Nickel Boys and Sinners.

Nothing I’ve read this year has enraptured me more than Suttree, a novel told in such stark detail and authentic emotion that every page feels lived rather than invented. Its beauty, wisdom and sorrow are unceasing and unforgettable and it’s a piece of art I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
