We need more forums because Discord is where great answers go to die

Forums are hard to start because you need a critical mass of users. Start with a blog, driven by one person, and slowly morph the website into a web forum

Fair to say that any flexible-width component should be designed to respond nicely to whatever width is available?

This was validated by my in-person experience at the Knowles teaching conference where I was approached by many strangers who recognized me from TikTok

Thanks Shawn! If anybody is interested but not ready to think about school yet, there is an email input on the website so I can remind you in the fall

I was actually inspired to make a demo video in the process of writing a blog post.

Between YT and TikTok, the short form video has ~4,500 views.

I also made a horizontal version with the same content and posted it as a regular YouTube video to embed on the blog. That has 12 views.

Same content!

The biggest recurring con, aside from practical annoyances, is not being able to meet students accommodations because you have no easy way to control the outcome.

Shuffle Buddy fixes that by allowing you to enter your own rules. The article above further explains what makes it better.

Building Shuffle Buddy has been incredibly fun, and now I'm thrilled to be sharing it with more teachers! See you at Knowles Summer Conference (or if you can't make it and want help getting set up, reach out via DM or email!)

I built Shuffle Buddy when I realized that my students needed frequently randomized seats, but some of my students had specific personal needs and I didn't have the time to manage it all.

Claude helped me a ton by generating csv files of test data. I explicitly asked for it to try to stump my code. This helped!
