I've never adopted the apps. Facebook got tolerable again on web when they actually added a dedicated "feeds" view for "all posts by a filter (e.g. friends), in chronological order, like it was to begin with". That and an adblocker makes it almost classic-like.

But Google AI search is free, so the wealth threshold for having a subservient entity to learn things for you so you don't have to is lower than at any point in history!
