Also, good luck building viable "additional public transit" & non-car options without in any way affecting parking or cars, eliciting knee-jerk reactions from people like yourself
December 3, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Not dedicating the entirety of roads to cars isn't "attacking families who need to use cars."
December 3, 2025 at 7:51 PM
That's absurd. It's not "causing harm," it's literally the opposite, slower traffic and fewer cars would save tons of childrens' lives. Having safe bike/scooter/cargo bike infrastructure gives many people a *safe* alternative to cars, freeing up parking for the handicapped.

Who is suggesting banning cars and busses and trucks
December 3, 2025 at 7:39 PM
Yes exactly, so we shouldn't be using so much public land to cater exclusively to cars

Yeah longterm. But also we obviously won’t have that in the next 30 years so it’s still good to allow more housing in the meanwhile
November 25, 2025 at 12:51 PM
“can be done remotely” isn’t actually the same as “can be moved many time zones away to another country without significant costs of various kinds”
November 13, 2025 at 3:58 PM
I just am very skeptical that has any influence on votes for the federal level. Most city councils I’ve been involved with don’t even meaningfully have Dem or GOP two party organization
November 3, 2025 at 6:54 PM
But that’s not what state or federal government does, and if it’s just things like grants, those already exist and don’t move the needle at all
November 3, 2025 at 2:42 AM
Ehh, as a psychological principle people feel more positive towards things they’ve invested time/effort in. They won’t make Trump act better but they might well help build the opposition for more impactful work (voting)
October 20, 2025 at 11:05 AM
But it was the vast majority in the first group and they were still mostly unhappy
October 13, 2025 at 10:52 PM
I mean they can’t use them as law enforcement or otherwise do much on non federal property without those conditions
October 11, 2025 at 8:07 PM
There is no legal way for a president to deploy federal troops or federalized national guards in a state without a major emergency (specific kinds, like invasions) or the governor requesting it. The courts can’t stop the federalization and deployment though, that’s legal (if pointless)
October 11, 2025 at 8:05 PM
The law allowed for one extension, not for the random extra ones by Trump.

Yes classes that clearly exist and therefore no Marxist has ever spent time litigating their boundaries
September 29, 2025 at 9:24 PM
Do you imagine that the people who will live in these “sold to the highest bidder” (gasp!!!) houses might then vacate the housing they’re in now, making those places available to somewhat less wealthy people, and on down the line
September 29, 2025 at 5:47 PM
And notably I can’t afford housing built for the dirt poor in NYC 200 years ago because the opposite is also true, if there isn’t enough housing built it filters upwards. We need more housing
September 27, 2025 at 3:04 PM
Like, every home I’ve ever lived in was at one point a new house build for the then wealthy, sometimes hundreds of years ago, which is now affordable to me because it’s very used. It’s how the overwhelming majority of housing for the poor exists today
September 27, 2025 at 2:59 PM
That’s not true, eg www.aei.org/wp-content/u...

You don’t get cheap cars by requiring car manufacturers make cheap models, you get cheap used cars by there being lots of new cars for people who want them. And when new cars are in shortage, like covid, used car prices shoot up
www.aei.org
September 27, 2025 at 2:55 PM
No it doesn’t, many people in existing housing would prefer and could afford nicer housing if it existed, thereby freeing up housing for less wealthy people

No deregulation of my sunset town laws, billionaires!!

You can make the same graph with liberal cities like Berkeley vs the rest of CA
