In the US, it's $3000 a course, and that puts part-time profs there below the poverty line. It's criminal.

The greater scandal is what universities pay their part-time professors: $9,000 per course, no medical/dental benefits, no pension, and no job security. Even if you are lucky to pick up 4-5 courses, you make between $36,000-$45,000 annually. That should be on the front page of every newspaper.

I should add that right-wing populists are a far scarier bunch in America because of the power they wield. The rationale for censorship is part political expediency and part ideological insecurity. They cry about "woke" culture while they censor criticisms of American history or foreign policy.

Yes and no. Effort is crucial, but success also requires skill and execution. I've seen students try hard but still fail because of a lack of skill, a language barrier, or poor execution due to time constraints.
