A report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that only 584,000 jobs were created during 2025. Along with job creation being down, unemployment rates went up last year, peaking at 4.4%

A new study by UNLV’s Lied Center for Real Estate found that only 6.1 percent of all jobs in Southern Nevada pay enough to afford to buy a home in Las Vegas. To be able to afford the average mortgage payment, you would need to make at least $57.22 an hour.

Update: After a brief suspension of WIC benefits for Tribal Nations, USDA funds are being used to keep the program running. While funding is still uncertain during the government shutdown, these funds should keep benefits going until Oct. 31st

The federal government shutdown has forced the Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada to suspend WIC benefits for 28 tribal communities across the state. These benefits are suspended starting 10/9 until further notice.
