We only have, I think, two pay examples from the middle first century, and the other case are 5-aroura soldiers, relatively low-ranking.

And we don't know how many "Hippothracians" there were.

The suicide by broken spear is quite the detail.

Reminds me a bit of Eugnotos of Akraiphia, who killed himself with his sword amid "snapping spears" like the one here. I know that text thanks to @nakhthor.bsky.social
