As a long suffering Raiders fan, I don’t talk about football much here. But I have to say I appreciate a nice sunset while I watch the carnage.

My baguettes are feeling authentic these days, so I went French: Scalloped potatoes plus green beans and lions mane in butter and cream topped with fried shallots. Yum!

Sadly, there are other factors (e.g. the destruction of American science, attacks on sustainable energy) that also point in the direction of very long term economic pain ahead, at least for the US.

I think Cory is basically right here.

Did volunteer conservation work at Pālamanui this morning and as a reward we hiked up into the more densely forested area mauka (which is beautiful!) to see some petroglyphs.

The Oatmeal has an interesting take on AI art. While I don't disagree with his "process" argument, Bob Duke offers a counterpoint based on A.N. Whitehead's Rhythm of Education, namely that the "process" part too often ends up dominating. Maybe *judicious* use of AI? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wtjz...

Jason Matthews’ great spy novels charmingly include a plot relevant recipe at the end of each chapter. Tonight I made one for the first time. From “The Kremlin’s Candidate,” and it’s delicious!

One way to get a VERY highly cited paper is to be the first to publish on a difficult problem, but with a really dumb approach. You will be cited forever more as a baseline, because every new method can beat it. Here's a safe example
