Also the same group has published two completely different datasets for the same system and no-one seems to have ever commented or noticed. This is despite the authors even interpreting them also differently…

Problem is that the answer as to why the data are different elsewhere is that they have not sorted out the artefacts…

Very interesting to finally dive into azobenzene-based gels as well; wow, is the literature in that area ... erm... **variable in quality**

Some cool stuff here, with massively increased half-lives of the cis-isomers of an azobenzene in the gel state as well as good energy storage. Lots of progress needed still, but this is an interesting approach I think...

Yes, a number of times when people just used some of our kit. Also a number of times when a PhD student helped someone and they were co-authors but I had not been involved so just asked not to be a coauthor...

Try multiplying by number of FRS at each institution and that should weight it in the ‘right’ way for you… or maybe by the number of MPs from a PPE degree you run?

A few key things that apply no matter where you are:
⭐ Meeting with your supervisor at least once a week strongly correlates with higher satisfaction
⭐ Students early in their PhD tend to be happier than those nearing the end
⭐ Working more than 60 hours a week makes satisfaction plummet
