Onion flakes are really good at absorbing fluids from a turkey which might ordinarily run into a pan. Fresh onions come with their own fluids, so stay the same volume. Onion flakes, well. Remember those little pills that turn into sponge dinosaurs when immersed in water?

Some shelters will let you visit and hang out/play with the kitties. Great way to enrich their lives, help them be adoptable, and get yourself some sweet feline friendship

If you have a yard, you could build a warming station - just a little shelter for strays to escape the worst of winter temperatures. In line with a window or with a little camera, might give you some kitty caregiver warm fuzzies.
