I definitely think there's a bias. I don't know if it's conscious or if voters are just thinking about the last big game they were obsessed with ... or what. I think the voting process should be closer to the Oscars and only experts in that field should vote for that category.

yeah thats a good way of putting it! I was actually turned off the witcher for a long time because of this sort of marketing (not ashamed to admit that my RPG experience started with JRPGs!) I dislike the subset of gamers who hate whimsy, always hear it when the family friendly game gets a goty nom.
