I think you had that covered in mentioning the expense, really! The emotional labour is tremendous, too. And time. Travel to & from adds hours, which people working or caring full-time don't have. Also, there is no staff to help, from front of house to tech people to manage the showings.

Agreed. That's why I seldom go. What's also missing from this conversation is care - it costs even more $$ for parents and caregivers to cover their absence at home. And it's challenging / expensive / inaccessible to bring kids and / or people who need care along.
