Hey man of science with your perfect rules of measure, can you improve this place with the data that you gather?
He couldn't understand it because he was never able to assimilate into normal society.

My guess is it was just a cheap housing development thrown up to accommodate post war population boom.

They did sluice away some of Beacon. Right where the interchange with I-5 is now. They likely had no way of knowing they would hit some of the rock that Beacon sits on.

I for sure want to go from Everett to Tacoma at 45 mph.....

ANYTHING to not build high-speed rail...

That area in South Seattle is an area that Harrell specifically prevented upzoning and the further development of some commercial centers. That might be a factor?

Water views living up to their expectations.

On the one hand, I'm glad she's building bridges, but the other hand is petty and wants her to shut out orgs who actively campaigned against her (at least initially).

Overall, I think we should all be glad we've potentially started to move on from a transactional mayor's office.

At the West Seattle presentation on Monday, they were raving about how we have the longest continual light rail line in the country...

I was internally screaming, "And you're proud of that?!?!"

A user not being able to properly close a quick release is not a defect.

From the "we hate government censorship" party....

They were pretty up front about the cost going from $4B to $8B. Im reading thos book about building the first Link line, and it's wild how much the costs have gone up since early 2000s.

Based on the presentation, they are going to alter the design so Avalon won't be possible in the future either. There are potentially some cost savings, as they can now dig the tunnel entrance to Alaska Junction in a different location.

I was curious how long the new run between stations will be.

Isn't it pretty likely that Mayor Wilson will pull him from transportation before that happens?
November 25, 2025 at 5:02 AM
That was my interpretation as well.
November 25, 2025 at 5:01 AM
Felt the same. It was about 15 minutes of information, a LOT of thanking and introducing, and then a few pretty staged sounding questions.

Teresa seemed very excited that labeled streets on the pictures though.

Sounds like they didn't do any of their own testing (or 3rd party), and this is based on incidents only. (Which isn't surprising given the cuts). Is that common?

Not trying to stan Rad here, but should we be a little skeptical of a CPSC that was gutted this year by an administration that hates green tech?

DOGE dismantles Consumer Product Safety Commission
When a product turns out to be dangerous, or even deadly, it’s recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. It’s a watchdog group that’s now being dismantled by DOGE.

Sadly, many bicycle components and compnent standards today are lessons in obsolescence. Let me tell you about mountain bikes the last 15 years....
November 24, 2025 at 11:06 PM
Here is Specialized's BBB profile. People like to complain for sure.
I'm not denying that Rad has had some issues, but it feels like you're dancing on the graves of many Rad owners who were trying to be more environmentally conscious in an ecomical way (and support a local business).
November 24, 2025 at 10:53 PM
I dont think the answer is perhaps, though. If you were/are looking at a kid hauler, almost every other bike is at least double. Most parents that aren't already avid cyclists aren't willing to "try it out" for $4k.
November 24, 2025 at 9:42 PM
And yet we see hundreds of people riding them around town every day.

I'm hoping this battery issue turns out to not be true.
November 24, 2025 at 9:40 PM
How many families have gotten a number of good years on their Radwagons at this point, though? And how many wouldn't have gotten a more expensive ebike?

The brakes were underpowered (replaced the front to a hybrid hydraulic), but in general, I was pretty happy with mine.
